DUBAI’s culinary calendar will heat up on Sunday, 24 August 2025, as The Saffron Society (TSS) unveils its latest edition of the much-anticipated supper club.

Set against the backdrop of summer and friendship, this event promises guests an extraordinary evening of delectable food, vibrant conversations and new connections.

From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the gathering will take place at the stylish MD Hotel By Gewan in Al Barsha, opposite Mashreq Metro Station on Sheikh Zayed Road.

What makes The Saffron Society’s supper club special?

The Saffron Society has carved a niche for itself as a dynamic platform bringing together food lovers, home cooks, professional chefs, influencers and notable personalities under one roof. By placing friendship and community at the heart of the experience, TSS seeks to prove that food is a universal language that fosters bonds far beyond the dinner table.

This edition features Chef Varun Menghani, a rising star in Dubai’s culinary scene known for his innovative Third Culture Indian cuisine. Chef Varun will introduce a brand-new menu showcasing seven exclusive dishes inspired by his multicultural upbringing. His journey spans the kitchens of Switzerland, New York City and Dubai, blending European techniques with Indian flavours to create a truly unique dining experience.

The supper club aims to celebrate the spirit of summer gatherings through a menu built from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each dish will reflect the warmth, joy and conviviality associated with these occasions – where friends old and new come together to share stories and memories.

Chef Varun said: “Cooking is an art. It’s about creativity and evoking memories from something as simple as a dish. Every plate I prepare tells a story, connecting cultures and building lasting friendships. I’m excited to present these seven exclusive dishes crafted with care and creativity to ensure an unforgettable dining experience.”

How does Chef Varun’s menu capture global flavours?

Growing up in a multicultural environment, Chef Varun has absorbed a rich variety of culinary traditions. His passion for food started in his mother’s kitchen and was refined through formal training in Culinary Arts in Switzerland. There, he trained in prestigious European kitchens, working alongside Michelin-starred chefs and focusing on French and Italian cuisines. His career then took him to New York City, where he further honed his skills.

Returning to Dubai, Chef Varun opened an Indian-inspired burger outlet, which sparked his passion for private diners and supper clubs. This supper club marks a continuation of that journey, as he explores Third Culture cuisine—a style that weaves together elements from his diverse background and the cities that shaped him, including Dubai, New York, Goa and Geneva.

This approach gives the evening’s menu a modern, cosmopolitan feel, offering guests a taste of Indian food filtered through global influences. The culinary narrative honours migration, memory and evolving identities.
